Position Overview
The Senior Director, Commercialization Lead -Cell Therapy will establish AstraZeneca's global supply chain commercialization and roadmap for cell therapy products. Drive the development of go-to-market operational strategies, optimizing supply chain efficiency,, cost, and long term success across clinical development, commercial launch, and product lifecycles.
You will be based in Gaithersburg, MD and will report to the Head, Cell Therapy Global Supply Chain.
You Will:
Supply Chain Strategic Leadership·
Lead formation and delivery of commercial supply strategic roadmap for cell therapy, ensuring seamless integration of supply with commercial operations.
Align strategic programs with cross-functional partners to achieve mutual financial, service-level, and outcome-based goals.
Represent Cell Therapy Operations on the Global Product Teams that commercialize and increase cell therapy products across the Oncology, Biopharm and Alexion departments.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Partner with commercial and operations responsibilities to ensure strategies and operational plans foster innovation, efficiency, and shared success across the value chain.
Be a main interface between the Commercial Business Units and the Cell Therapy Organization, aligning supply chain go-to-market plans with commercial and product strategy, including assessments and recommendations for investment decisions and market expansion business cases.
Value Chain Design & Launch Leadership
Design, and increase end-to-end value chains for new products and throughout the product lifecycle, focusing on scalability, and regulatory compliance.
Promote capability development with functional leaders, supporting supply chain, commercial operations goals, and financial goals.
Lead commercial launch activities, aligning Product, Commercial, and Operations, to accomplish commercial launches.
Lead end-to-end coordination of cross-functional teams to deliver launch success and global supply chain orchestration.
Identify process gaps and risks across the supply chain, developing business continuity plans to avoid supply disruption.
You Have:
Bachelor's degree in life sciences, engineering, or supply chain required; advanced degree (MBA, MS)
14+ years of experience in biopharma operations, with at least 5 years in advanced therapies (cell and gene therapy). 12+ years with advanced degree.
Experience with autologous and allogeneic supply models and global supply chain management in the cell therapy, biologics, or pharmaceutical sector
A comprehensive understanding of product development, manufacturing and supply management within a matrixed environment
Understanding of global, regional and local environments to identify risks, and design supply chains.
Experience in leadership of cross-functional teams for new product introduction and commercial launches
Mastery of value chain design, S&OP/IBP, procurement and logistics.
Think, strategy development, project management, business case development, financial skills, product costing capabilities.
Demonstrated proficiency in stakeholder management and executive-level communication to effectively influence senior leaders across the organization.
Proven capability in leading cross-functional teams and navigating complex matrix organizational structures

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $174,756 to $262,134. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program.If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
